Jungle Johno Eco Tours – Eungella National Park
The owners of Larrikin Lodge Backpackers Hostel operate the world famous Jungle Johno Eco Tours.
Jungle Johno has been transporting visitors to see the platypus for 15 years. The tour departs from the Hostel at 32 Peel Street in the city and will pick up at other places by request.
Departure times are seasonal as the tour is highlighted by the guaranteed platypus sighting.
As nature is unpredictable, a return time of 6pm-7pm is usual, but many be later in the warmer months.
June and July see lots of activity with the platypus.
The rainforest walk of approximately 1.5kms each way in Finch Hatton Gorge takes you to the Araluen Falls
for swimming under water falls and in the rock pools.
Your guide will point out the flora and fauna as you stroll up to the falls.
A stop at the Pinnacle Pub, an old Queensland style hotel, for a homemade pie at about $5.00 is available, or bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the waterfall.
